Shrek Birthday Party Ideas

Shrek has become a huge part of popular culture thanks to three excellent movies that highlight the interesting take on fairy tales. Despite Shrek being an ogre, children love him and they will want him to be a part of their birthday party. You can provide it to them by thinking outside the box and making an excellent Shrek birthday with Shrek Birthday Party Supplies.

No House…Swamp!
The house is no longer a house when the birthday party comes around. Instead, it is now a disgusting, oozing swamp that only an ogre could love. When all the children arrive, give them each ogre ear headpieces, which turns them from mild mannered children into lovable ogres who enjoy a good green ooze as much as the next person. Deck the house out in green and brown, to reflect the swamp, and add some ooze to various places to give it a little extra bit of disgusting.

Have fun with Food Names
When you are serving the children, don't serve them lemonade, serve them swamp water (just call it that…don't actually serve them swamp water). Do the same for a variety of foods, including hamburgers which will be known as salamander burgers and cake that you can tell them is made from all sorts of gooey creatures that live in the swamp.

Find the Princess
If there is one thing Shrek is good at, it is finding the princess, so why not put all those little Shreks in your house to work finding her. Have mom hide somewhere in the house, or the yard, and put the Shreks on a mythic quest to find her. Have them venture throughout a mysterious land full of cardboard box fortresses, dangerous pits of pretend lava and other misfortunes that may await them. When they find the princess, have her present the cake as a way of saying thanks for rescuing her from her horrible dungeon.

Ogre Names
When the children arrive, one of the first tasks you can create for them is creating special ogre placemats, complete with their own ogre names. Let them think up disgusting names that they can call themselves, albeit not too disgusting, and that will be their name for the rest of the day, including on their spot at the table.

Shrek may be disgusting, but his parties can be a lot of fun. Go on a mythic quest with the kids, dirty up the house and be an ogre slob for one day of the year. The kids will love it.
